How do I prevent Accountable2You notification emails from going to the spam or junk folder?

Why aren't my email notifications arriving in my email inbox?

Have you noticed that you're not receiving email notifications or alerts from Accountable2You? If so, you've come to the right place!

Most email service providers include some form of junk, spam, or bulk-mail filtering built into the email account. These filters are typically quite helpful at preventing unwanted emails from reaching your email inbox, but occasionally, they can be a bit overzealous. In these situations, the email filter "sees" Accountable2You's incoming email notifications and assumes that the messages are unsolicited marketing emails. As a result, it often prevents emails from arriving in your email inbox.

How can I stop Accountable2You notification emails from ending up in my junk or spam folder?

1. Add info@accountable2you.com as a contact or trusted sender/domain.

The steps to do this vary by email provider, but we've provided the most common email providers below.

2. Mark the incoming emails as "not junk" or "not spam" in your email account

These steps vary slightly depending on the app or service you're using for email. Below we've provided the most common email providers, but the steps are typically quite similar for other providers as well.

  • Gmail/G Suite

    1. Open Gmail from your web browser and sign in to your email account.
    2. In the folder list on the left, click More at the bottom to show all of your folders.
    3. In the folder list, click the Spam folder and look for any messages from Accountable2You.
    4. Right-click any messages from Accountable2You and select "Not Spam."
  • Hotmail/MSN/Outlook.com

  • The steps below are specific to Outlook.com, but the process is nearly identical for Hotmail and MSN as well.
    1. Open your email from your web browser and sign in to your email account.
    2. In the folder list on the left, click Folders to show all of your folders.
    3. In the folder list, click the Junk Email folder and look for any messages from Accountable2You.
    4. Right-click any messages from Accountable2You and select "Mark as not junk."
  • Microsoft Office 365 (O365)

  • Depending on the version of Office 365 you're using, these steps can vary slightly. This article from Microsoft walks through the steps.
  • Yahoo Mail

    1. Open Yahoo Mail from your web browser and sign in to your email account.
    2. In the folder list on the left, if the Spam folder isn't visible, click the More button to show all of your folders.
    3. In the folder list, click the Spam folder and look for any messages from Accountable2You.
    4. Right-click any messages from Accountable2You and select "Not Spam."

3. Check your email applications

Some email software applications (like Apple Mail and Microsoft Outlook) can mark messages as spam or junk. This functionality is in addition to the spam filtering that's built into your email account (e.g., Gmail, Hotmail, etc.). On your devices, we recommend checking these settings as well:

  • Microsoft Outlook (computer software)

  • Microsoft has provided reliable instructions you can find here - the whole article is helpful, but the relevant info is in the gray box, towards the top.
  • Apple Mail (computer software)

  • Apple has provided reliable instructions you can find here - follow the second section regarding emails incorrectly marked as junk.

Didn't see any emails from Accountable2You marked as junk or spam?

  1. If you're using an email account from a business, school, or organization, they likely have a spam firewall that quarantines or blocks email before it reaches your account. Contact your IT support team and request that they "whitelist the accountable2you.com email domain."
  2. Still no success? While we can't control what happens after the email leaves our servers, we can confirm if they sent successfully. If you haven't already, please contact us so we can check if the emails are being successfully received by your email server.
