Create a Subgroup

This guide is for admins on Organization or Mentor plans. (The subgroup feature isn’t necessary on Advocate plans.)

With subgroups, you can divide your plan’s members into organized groups. If you assign moderators to a subgroup, they can view reports and help manage specific subgroups without having access to all group members.

Subgroups are created and administrated from the Manage Sub Groups page.

Why would I want a subgroup?

If someone needs access to a particular group of users' reports without having access to all users' reports, a subgroup is a great solution.

Instead of giving individuals full access to the group’s activity, you can create separate subgroups and appoint moderators as mandatory partners for everyone in a specific subgroup.

Subgroup examples

  • Men’s and women’s groups: In church or small group situations, you can create separate subgroups for men and women.
  • Departments: For companies and other organizations using Accountable2You to monitor activity on organization-managed devices, subgroups could be created for departments or teams.

Create a subgroup

1
Log in to your A2U account here.
2
From the navigation menu, select Manage Group (or Manage Organization if you’re an Organization admin).
3
Choose Manage Sub Groups.
4
Select Create Group.

To edit an existing group, select the group's name instead.

5
Fill out the form and select Save.

What does it mean to be a subgroup moderator?

In addition to the abilities of a regular group member, subgroup moderators can

  • View online reports for everyone in their subgroup,
  • Receive email reports and text alerts for everyone in their subgroup, and
  • View user information for everyone in their subgroup (see image below).

As an admin, can I be a subgroup moderator?

No, account admins cannot be moderators. Account admins on Organization and Mentor plans already have access to the reports for all users in the group.

If you’d like to receive email reports and text alerts for some of the users in the group (but not all of them), follow the steps in this article.
