Installation Guide for Windows Machines
(Note: Windows XP and Vista users may need to use an older version of the Windows software which can be downloaded here. Please note that Accountable2You is not guaranteed to work on these systems as Microsoft has ended support and no longer issues security patches for them. Accountable2You uses modern security protocols to protect our users data, which may not be compatible with outdated security patches.)
Step 1: Download the Setup.exe file. Once downloaded, open the file and click "Install".
Step 2: Signup or continue.
If you have not yet signed up for Accountable2You's services you will not be able to register. Click the "I Need An Account" button and you will be directed to our website where you can signup. Once you have an account, or if you have already signed up, click "I Have An Account" to continue with the installation.
Step 3: License Agreement.
Please take a moment to review the License Agreement for Accountable2You. When finished, please indicate that you agree by clicking "I Agree".
Step 4: Register the software to your account.
In order to associate the device with your account so that it appears on your reports, you will need to register using your Accountable2You username and password. The "Device Name" can be whatever you wish. This is how the device will appear on your reports, so make it something that will clearly indicate which device this is (ie. Jimmy's PC). When finished click "Login".
Step 4b: Assign to a specific user (For Family Accounts Only).
If you have a family account and you have entered the managing user's username and password, the next screen will show all sub-users in your account. Highlight the name of the specific user to whom you want to register this device and click "Select Family Member" below.
Step 5: Assign Accountability Partners.
Click "Setup Accountability Partners" to be taken to the Accountable2You website, where you can add or edit partner settings for this device. For help with setting up a partner, view our support article on Setting Up Accountability Partners.
Step 6 (OPTIONAL): Excluding Programs
Accountable2You for Windows offers an option to exclude certain programs from monitoring, if this is necessary for privacy purposes. For instructions on doing this, please check out our Program Exclusion for Windows Guide.
You're All Setup!
Accountable2You is now monitoring all programs and browsers on this device, so you may continue to use your device normally.
Be sure to repeat this process for any additional Windows user accounts, as Accountable2You will only monitor the account that it is installed on.
You can know that Accountable2You is setup and monitoring by the presence of the "AU" icon in the menu bar of your computer.
Want to test the system?
Instead of going to an inappropriate website to test the rating system, please use the link provided below to conduct a "Red Alert Test". This will generate a sample alert from your device, and you should see the alert appear on your account within a few minutes (as well as send an alert to anyone setup as an accountability partner for that device).
Click here to perform the red alert test. (Make sure you are on the device that you want to test when you click this link).
You report will shortly show an activity similar to this:
