Identify and Remove Inactive Devices

As you add and remove the A2U app on your devices, sometimes you'll end up with duplicates on your account. Keeping the devices on your account tidy helps ensure your reports are as clear and effective as possible.

Method 1: Identify devices by install date (quickest)

When you have duplicate devices on your account, typically the fastest and easiest way to identify which one to keep is by looking at the install date. If you have duplicate devices with the same install date, skip down to option 2 below for the detailed method.

Pro tip: As a general rule, the newest device on the account (with the most recent install date) is the active installation. That's the one to keep.

1
Log in to your A2U online account here and go to the Devices page.
3
Compare the install dates for the duplicate devices in question. You'll want to remove the older ones and keep the newest one.
3

Select  Options > Remove to remove the older, inactive devices.

Method 2: Identify devices by Device ID (most accurate)

The most accurate way to find and remove duplicate or inactive devices from your account is by first identifying the active devices that should stay, then noting the Device ID for those active devices. Once you have a list of active devices, removing the inactive devices is a simple process.

Step 1: Identify Active Devices

Each time you install A2U on one of your devices, that installation gets a unique numerical code called a "Device ID". This acts like a serial number and helps differentiate between specific installations or devices, even if they have the same device name.

Start by creating a list of the Device IDs for your active devices, following this process:

1
On each of your devices, open the Accountable2You App, then access the diagnostic information(Follow the initial steps of the instructions here for each supported platform  to find the diagnostic information. In this case, you don’t need to send the information to A2U Support.)
2

Write down the Device ID found in the diagnostics. (This may also be called “Computer Code” or “Computer ID”, depending on the version of A2U you have.)

3
Repeat this process on each of your devices.

Once you have a complete list of Device IDs from your active devices, you’re all set for Step 2 below!

Step 2: Remove Inactive Devices

Now that you have a complete list of your active Device IDs, you’re ready to remove the inactive devices.

1

Log in to your A2U online account here and go to the Devices page.

2

Compare the Device IDs in the Device ID column to the Device IDs on your list and remove any devices that are not on your list. These are inactive devices.

3

Select Options, then choose Remove from the dropdown to remove these inactive devices.

Well done! You’ve removed the inactive devices from your account.
