Install Accountable2You for Chromebook

One: Before you begin, a few questions: 

  • Are you installing this Chrome extension on a Windows, Mac, or Linux device?
    • If yes, this extension is unnecessary. Use the hyperlinks shown above to install our whole-computer monitoring for those devices instead. 
  • Are you an administrator for your organization, deploying Accountable2You to all of your managed Chromebook devices?
    • If yes, you'll most likely want to use the "School Edition" of this same Chromebook extension, found here.

Two: Install the Accountable2You for Chromebook extension

  1. Open the Chrome web browser on your Chromebook. 
  2. Open the Chrome Web Store or visit this link:
  3. In the top left, search for "Accountable2You" and press Enter.
  4. Click Accountable2You from the list of search results.
  5. Click the blue Add to Chrome button.
  6. On the confirmation prompt that appears, click the Add extension button.

Three: Register your Chromebook with Accountable2You

  1. In the new tab that opens, click the blue Login button that appears. 
    • Don’t have an account? Click the Signup - 10 day FREE trial button instead. 
  2. Check the box for "I accept the terms" and then click Continue.
  3. Log in with your Accountable2You account information: 
  4. Click the Add Chrome to Account button.

Four: Enable Accountable2You’s monitoring

  1. Has your device administrator disabled the use of incognito mode? If not, or you’re unsure, please move forward to step number two. If yes, complete the sub-steps shown below.
    1. In the window, click the small blue text that says, “Click here to override.” 
    2. Enter your Accountable2You account password. 
    3. Click the Override Requirement button. 
    4. Skip to step number five. 
  2. On the next screen, click Enable Incognito Monitoring.
  3. The Chrome extensions tab will open. In the list of extensions, click the Details button for the Accountable2You extension. 
  4. In the “Allow in incognito” section, select the toggle switch to enable the extension to run within Chrome’s incognito mode. 
  5. A new tab will open. Click the blue Install Validator button.
  6. In the new tab that opens, click the blue Add to Chrome button for the Accountable2You Validator.
  7. On the confirmation prompt that appears, click the Add extension button.
  8. A screen should automatically appear, showing a list of green checkmarks, indicating that the extension is correctly installed.
  9. Last but not least, click the blue Add Accountability Partners button to add partners to your device. 
  10. Repeat these same steps for any other user accounts on the device.

Five: Want to test the system?
